Moms in the Workplace

For the (almost) 20 years I've been on this planet, I have always enjoyed watching television. Of the countless number of TV moms that have crossed my eyes, I've appreciated seeing that so many of them are working mothers! These women are not only "bringing home the bacon", but they are also able to take care of their families. Below are just some of my favorites:

Jane Gloriana Villanueva, Jane The Virgin (CW)

Occupation: Writer and Lounge Manager at the Marbella Hotel

Child: Mateo

Actress: Gina Rodriguez

Having been accidentally artificially inseminated, Jane became a mom under some pretty weird circumstances. Nonetheless, she's been doing a pretty awesome job. Though she got off to a rocky start (nice way of saying her son was kidnapped at birth), she's been able to raise her son as best as she can. Balancing her duties as a mom, lounge manager and now as a published author, Jane has still managed to make time for her 'Mr. Sweetface' (aka Mateo).

Mellie Grant, Scandal (ABC)

Occupation: U.S. Senator

Children: Jerry (deceased), Karen and Teddy

Actress: Bellamy Young

Former U.S. Senator of Virginia turned President of the United States, Mellie is legitimately a BOSS (she's THE BOSS). She may not have the “mom gene,” but that doesn’t mean that she can’t be one hell of a mom when she needs to be. Watch her on Scandal when you get the chance!

Samantha Bee, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee (TBS)

Occupation: Comedian and Political Commentator

Children: Piper, Fletcher and Ripley (these are her real kids!)

Comedian: Samantha Bee

Samantha Bee. SAMANTHA BEE. If you've never seen her show, I highly encourage you to watch it. Bee is an absolute comedy powerhouse and her commentary on the current political atmosphere is truly something to be admired. Bee puts a hilarious filter over her firm stance on women’s rights and gender equality. Her humor has even earned her an Emmy nomination. However, at the end of all this, she's managed to raise 3 children in an America that she's not even sure is going to be ok. Tune in to TBS to see her in all of her hilarity!
