In her upcoming film Life of the Party, McCarthy plays a middle-aged housewife named Deanna who decides to go back to college to finally get her degree. In a real comedic sense, she ends up at the same school as her daughter (played by young actress) Molly Gordon), and as seen in the film’s recent released trailer, a plethora of hijinks ensue. Plunging headfirst into the college experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna -- now Dee Rock -- embraces freedom, fun, and frat boys on her own terms, finding her true self in a senior year that I don't think she ever expected.

Many times in TV shows and movies, we see mothers put their dreams and aspirations aside to take care of their home; of their children. This movie is refreshing for a number of reasons. Yes, it's great to see Melissa McCarthy back at it again with her over the top comedic ways. Yes, I'm excited to see what Ben Falcone (director of Tammy and The Boss) will create this time around. Most importantly, I'm excited to see a mother seizing her opportunity to go back and do something that she really wants to do. I've seen it done in real life but not so much on the big screen. I've seen it done a million times. times we see mothers talk and talk and talk about an opportunity that they passed up on because they had to raise a family. In true movie fashion, the mother just ends up dropping the dream because she realizes that her family is more important. Can't wait to see this film explore different territory.

I think both McCarthy and Falcone have a real winner and I can't wait to see it later this year! See the trailer for Life of the Party below.
