IT IS FINALLY HERE! Incredibles 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2004 animated classic Incredibles, is finally here…and boy is it aware of the times!
Seeing the one minute and thirty second trailer for the film, I can already tell the times have certainly changed. The sequel picks up where the first film left off. However, superheroes are now illegal??? BUT WAIT! There’s a new mysterious “tycoon” on the hunt for new superheroes. I was expecting them to ask Mr. Incredible, because you know, he’s the big strong man. BUT WAIT, there’s more. This “tycoon” wants Elastigirl! That’s right he wants ELASTIGIRL. That’s right, the roles are reversed. Mr. Incredible (the man) is at home with Violet, Dash and baby Jack-Jack while Elastigirl (the w o m a n) is out saving the world. I am so here for it!! I’m not used the seeing female superheroes with their own main story lines (I’m still waiting on Captain Marvel). I am excited that a movie geared towards young children is switching the roles. Not only are they creating a new role model for young women but they are also doing something original.
Look, I may be in college and I may be 19 years old. However, you can bet your sweet ass I’ll be watching this movie on June 15, 2018 with all the other millennials that have been waiting on this sequel!
